SO do we have to pay to become ISWA members on top of the entry fee?

BJJ no-gi rules? NAGA rules? ADCC rules? Make them up as you go along rules?

Are you going to hire Pro and cert. refs?

Proof of insurance required to enter?

Prize money?

with there be entries at diff. skill levels? (1-3yrs, 4 and up)

All grapplers have to be ISWA members ($35) IIRC. I am not sure about coaches (although there is a coach membership option). Spectators probably don't have to be members, I think.

I perfer making up rules as you go along. ISWA has a well defined rule set at http://iswa.us/rulebook.shtml with:

High Amplitude Throw: 5 points
Low Amplitude Throw: 3 points
Takedown: 2 points
*Takedown: 1 point
*Flying Submission Failure (3 secs danger)

Back Control: 4 points
Full Mount: 3 points
Side Mount: 2 points
Reversal: 2 points
Escape: 1 point

Men's and Women's Competitive Division: (over two years experience)
  • Novice: Born 1994 - 1995
  • Schoolboy/girl: Born 1992 - 1993
  • Cadet: Born 1990 - 1991
  • Junior: Born 9/1/1986 & after (+ enrolled in grades 9-12)
  • Senior: Born 1986 or before.* 1987-88 w/ medical certificate
  • Veterans: Born from 1950-1971

Men's Non-Comp Division: (under two years experience, beginner)
  • H.S.: Wrestlers born after 9/1/1986 (enrolled in grades 9-12)
  • Senior: Wrestlers born in 1986 and before.* 1987-88

Taken from their web site. Those are for tournaments, I gather that dual meets only use the competitive division rules.

We haven't decided if our club will participate or not. If we will have a "real" competitive team, then we should vote on it (to spend money for it, etc). All of our grapplers would probably fall under the non-comp senior division except for a few wrestlers. We are still quite new. Probably a lot will change this comming year, though.
