Nobody 'invented' anything when it comes to grappling techniques. As long as people have been grappling, they have been ending up in various positions and submissions that they were never specifically taught. Some people just choose to patent them, while others simply log the techniques they discover in training into their mental grappling registry and never write a book or release a movie on them. I'm sure people have incidentally found ways to use every method of choking somebody for as long as people have been fighting for food or wrestling for sport.

There was wrestling and joint manipulation before the greeks. The Chinese had wrestling, so did The Egyptians, and many other civilizations. The Human body hasn't changed much in the last 10,000 years.

Not saying that Nino copied the technique then claimed to have invented it. But it's obviously existed in some form for an unknown length of time.

are yoo crazy? Eddie bravo invented it.

I also think it's funny how so many people are upset at this thread when all the guy wanted to do was post something he thought was interesting.
Instead several people somehow got offended or thought he was trying to prove something.
Calm down, brahs.

I agree. I think it's a neat find but I am a huge resource collector. People spend too much time trying to find a thread to be opinionated in that I think they miss the point of most threads. There has been a ton of threads that claim Nino to be the inventor of the Gogo (Nino himself has claimed the invention of the Gogo in one interview and than later stated that someone must have done it before him). The threadstarter most likely assumed that was the general consensus around here.
I hope we get to see more forums with interesting finds continue to pop up without forum hero's flying in with crappy attitudes to make sure they check the TS before they evaluate what his point really was.

I guarantee those Judoka didnt call it a "gogoplata." So, Yes, Nino did invent the "gogoplata."
But the actual technique...invented itself...it was always there waiting to be discovered and re-discovered.
