To cut 5 lbs or not.

I have a tourny this saturday and i currently weigh about 194. should i cut the 5 pounds down to the 180-189.9 class or stay at 190 - 199.9 and continue eating whatever i want. Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks

I'd cut, you might be more powerful at 180-189.

IMO.

i'd cut. 5 pounds is easy and would be well worth it. i would just have an early dinner the day before weigh-ins and stop drinking water after dinner. when you wake up, you should be around 5 pounds lighter if you don't eat or drink till after weighing in.

5 pounds is only 2.5% of your body weight. Go for it - it will be better than grappling against guys who are naturally 10-15 pounds heavier.

Let's just say the question is do you have more will power than 13 year olds who do it for school wrestling?

you can float that 5 lbs away overnight from just sleeping.......unless you have a bad habit of drinking water when you sleep walk.

Most guys in that weight class are naturally between 200 and 210 and up. I'm naturally about 185 and when I don't cut and stay in the 180-189 weight class, I'm usually one of the smaller ones.
