common beginner bjj injuries?

whats up guys. i just finished my first week of bjj and i had a few concerns about injuries. This week ive suffered:
a sore neck
bruises
and a tightness in my lower back

ive been submitted a lot, especially by bigger guys. I'm not discouraged, but i am concerned a little by the tightness in my back.

Is this pretty common for noobs in bjj. what injuries did yall have when starting bjj?
any input would be greatly appreciated.

Those are all pretty common among new BJJ people, try taking contrast showers I guess to help the soreness in your back

The lower back thing will happen if you're not use to it, make sure you warm up your back properly before you start. For a sore neck, sometimes u can't really prevent it but u can make it feel a lot better by stretching your neck out after practice. take like 4-5 min and just stretch it to both sides, it'll feel a lot better the next day. The best things you can do imo is get a good warm up (get your muscles warm so they won't be as prone to injury) and stretch them out after warm up and practice as well. I know it's a pain in the ass after hard rolling, but stretching afterwards really helps.

Bruises bruises bruises until your body gets used to them..

Also your muscles that your not used to working out will be sore.

Let's see, in the past month I've had: sore neck, sore shoulders, sore knees, sore groin, dislocated toe, sore elbow, sprained ankle....and that's just what I can remember off the top of my head.

I just use heat contrast (warm shower followed with ice pack) and take Motrin when needed.
