I have Path to the Black Belt by Rodrigo Gracie and love it. For a beginner it is a great book. I would highly recommend any beginner this book.

I agree. I think out of all the books, this one has the most complete "basic" techniques, and is the easiest to understand. I love Marcelo, and his dvds but his book seemed too repetitive.

My buddy lent me Brazilian Jujistsu Theory & Technique(or some name very similar)by Renzo Gracie & Kid Peligro(has Royler on the cover w/Renzo).

It's a GREAT book. It covers the history of jujitsu, how to approach training, and pretty much all of the basics. Really, really good stuff.

Any Gracie or Machado books.

These would probably be best if you are just starting.

I wouldn't look into any of Eddie Bravo's books or Marcelo's book until you are at least 6 or 7 months in.
I agree Bravo and Marcelo's books are great. They show awesome technique that isn't seen a lot today. However it can be overwhelming for a beginner. It is a whole different game and needs to be coupled with great basic technique. I would definitely take a peek if you want to see what is the possibilities are and how things are evolving. However for a bread and butter book (especially for a beginner) I agree with FLMikeATT.
