If you just started rolling it could be a good video for you. I'm 42 but I think I'm 22. I watched a little bit of it today. Like I said in another thread this is the only video I own.

I don't want to just defend. I want to escape. I'll watch some more tomorrow.

The whole premise is ridiculous. I am 47 years old. I train 4 days a week.

Age doesn't matter. It means nothing.

I am in just as good shape as most of the 24 year olds. On the off days, I run, lift weights and stretch. For my size, I am as strong or stronger as the 20 somethings and I am so flexible I can just about do the splits.

When I loose to someone my size, it is because the younger guys Jiu Jitsu is better. Period.

I am sore some mornings after class. But, that happened too when I was in my 20's. I consider the age thing to be the biggest myth on the planet. It is just an excuse.

There are some things that I can't do now that I could do 20 years ago (I'm 42). But these young guys don't know what that is. I am considered one of the strong guys who does the smashing. Over the last couple of years I have been relying on my technique as opposed to my strength.

Diet, rest, and recovery play a more important role now.

Old guy, don't tell these young guys our secret. We need to sandbag them once and a while...

just because you are Randy Couture doesn't mean all guys in their 40's and 50's are Randy Couture.
you are the exception to the rule, Oldguy

I had it for a while and never watched it. Harris' voice is soothing as mentioned before...

This is awesome that you feel this way. You have a great attitude. Age does matter however. If someone made you 24 years old again you would feel a difference on the mats trust me. Aging is alive and real my friend.

I am no Randy Couture. But, I am not joking. I really believe that my age does not physically limit me in any way at this point. The only thing limiting me is my skill.

I have always done martial arts. At 27 years old, I was just as sore and tired after a karate class as I am now after a BJJ class. I actually train harder now than I ever have in my "youth". I am going backpacking on a 6 mile trip to the Sierra Nevadas for a two days this week with my teen age son. In my mind, I consider these two days rest days.

I asked Rickson once about this once. He told me that he thinks age is just a number in your head. You are how old you think you are.

What you believe can make a huge difference.

What's the secret, Old Guy? Lifting/stretching? Diet/Rest?

I feel good @ 42, but I am not quite the same as I was 20 years ago.

I have to say my ego gets ruffled when Mr. Harris says, "You're in your 40's and you can't keep up with the young guys at your school." (paraphrasing)

The young guys have to try and keep up with me!
