A BJJ White Belt submits a Brown Belt.
Man today I really felt the power of BJJ. This Brown Belt who had left the country prior to my enrollment in the school just returned.
He is a big guy, outweighs me by a 100 pounds (im 155 he is 255).
My instructor told me to start rolling with him and I was intimidated a bit cause I was thinking he was going to submit me in 4 seconds and he outweighs me by 100 pounds. As we started rolling he came very agressively and ended up mounting me with incredible ease. He quickly went for an armbar but I reacted instantly and escaped him. I had side control for a second but could not do anything and he swept me over and he ended on my guard.
As he was attempting to break my guard by sticking his left arm through my thigh man I just freaking went for that triangle and landed it solid. As i let him out of the triangle I notice that almost eveyrone in my school is starring in amazement at what just happened. My instructor broke the ice by clapping his hands and telling me that I did awesome.
That really felt good. That minute I understood what the whole "weaker person takes a stronger opponent" that BJJ is all about.

A BJJ white belt beats a BJJ brown belt?
Crazy. Congratulations. It sounds like he made a mistake leaving one arm low in your guard attempting to pass. Nice 1 on capitilizing on that. If I pass a purple + grapplers guard I get excited all week...
..but i suck .

Good job! He may have underestimated you, but that means he underestimated you.

Yeah, that is something I thought about as well. I know he is going to make a big effort next time we roll to toss me around and let everyone in class know that brown belt isn't there for show, but im not going to let that stuff mess with my head.

Sometimes higher belts will have fun and be lazy, so you can catch them.
