BJJ Weight Classes?

So, I recently decided that I want to start competing and I was wondering if the weight classes in BJJ/Sub Grappling tournaments were standardized, and if so what are they. I'm kind of curious as to where my weight is at relative to the weight classes so I can adjust my fitness goals accordingly.

Thanks guys

Does the lack of response mean the weight classes aren't standardized?

This is all pretty speculative, basically I'm trying to find out if it's realistic for me to lose enough weight that I stop being a HW, or if I shoud try and go the other direction and get big. I weigh about 220 right now, but I was at 205 not that long ago and I know I can lose more than that now that I'm grappling again.

Thanks for the the help.

the weights are NOT standardized for ALL grappling tourneys. It depends who is putting the tourney on. I have been in local tourneys where 200+ was all lumped together.

Every other tourney i have been a prat of the cut off for HW (or SHW) was 220-225+

so you should just stay where you are, and lose a pound if you need to

Most tournaments also reserve the right to change weight classes if too many or too few people populate one or more divisions. In smaller tournaments, combining weight classes is often done for advanced divisions. In bigger tournaments, separating weight classes sometimes happens when too many people sign up for one division.

I didn't mean to give the impression that I was in good shape. I'm just now getting back into the gym and I wanted to make sure my fitness goals made sense.
