BJJ in LA-my experience and a question in general

I have been in LA for about 3 weeks now and am looking for a BJJ school to go to. I am staying for 2 more months. I have only gone to 2 schools to try out and I have positive experiences with both. However, circumstances may prevent me from attending. I get around by catching bus so I cant go too far.

Hollywood Bjj-I went here today and tried out a class and the atmosphere is great. Shawn is very detailed as an instructor and the people are friendly. There is nobody going crazy ripping arms or cranking subs. Great environment to learn but unfortunately for me, the place is much farther than I originally thought as it looked a lot closer to my place from mapquest. I fully recommend the school to anyone though.

Beverly Hills JJ Center-This was the 1st place I went to and I absolutely like everything about the place. Marcus is a great instructor who really knows his stuff and he has classes all day, all week. The training reminded me of my instructor at home but a little different so that's another plus. I also like how we warm up as it is longer than other places. THe best thing is location wise, it is better than any other school and I will spend the least time commuting on the bus if I train here.

However, as they have different rates for the amount of times you attend a week, I want to train about 4-5 X a week. I can afford the monthly fee for that but adding in registration, it makes things very difficult financially for me. Another option is to pay the monthly fee to train only once a week but that is not at all what I am looking for as I want to get in the most training as possible since I am only in town for a limited time. Here is my main question-they have muay thai as standup 2 X a week. I have lots of experience boxing and mainly with training others as I have helped my teammates at home prepare for fights numerous times. Would it be acceptable/reasonable or would it be seen as rude if I asked for the possibility of a waived/reduced joining fee if in return, I would help their students/fighters with their boxing skills as I don't think they have a boxing instructor at this current time in addition to chores (cleaning, etc.) I could help out with. I don't want to come off as rude or thinking I am a big shot, as I genuinely want to train here but it would be a little difficult financially.

I was also considering trying out Gracie Barra Culver City or John Machado but those would be hard for me to get to as I would have to pay to go and come back as my monthly bus pass would not cover the fee to go on those buses. Another option was Machado Fitness center but for now, I am kinda set on BHJJC.

i wouldnt guess they would think you are rude, but chances are they might just turn you down and you would have to cough up the money anyways

ye that is highly likely then i would just probably pay to train less times per week in that case. just looking at possible options though for now

I am living in the UCLA area and I catch the bus so I cant exactly go too far. Also I am mostly interested in doing gi with occasional no-gi

BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU CLUB

REALLY cool place. Sounds like it'd be your thing (check the schedule). Debating between there and..

LEGENDS MMCT

But the Jiu Jitsu there is all no gi. There's no registration fee but the monthly fees can be a killer.

I live next to Street Sports so if you like it let me know. "Family" Discounts may apply

OH and UCLA offers a summer BJJ course if you'd be in to that.

You're in UCLA and you haven't checked out Rickson's? It's right down Wilshire on the other side of the 405.
