do what ever is more fun - pure and simple.

karate is not fun to me -.. yell HII YAHH and breaking a board - or doing a pre choreographed dance sounds more like humiliating punishment than fun.

Honestly, once you're in that karate gi and taking your first karate class, you'll find yourself thinking really quick, why the fuck did I do this.

Do both if you can

If you are going to do MMA, you need to be combining many styles and techniques. Knowing one style is not enough anymore. Check out this cool video of Karate World Champion Raymond Daniels getting beat by his opponent continually taking the fight to the ground where he is out of his element. The video and more cool articles are at World Extreme Fighter.

BJJ but at some point, pick up some boxing or Muay Thai as well.

Hell most places where fights occur are in a bar club etc.. If a pool table is around; hey theres your stick. A table leg somewhere? Branches on a tree or anything remotely that resembles a stick. Shit a pipe would be deadly!

I think that if karate was more fun i probably would have stuck with it. Can't get enough of jiu jitsu.
