For a layman like myself, is there any way you (or anyone) could list which of these events are more prestigious than others? Or does it change each year based on entrants? Thanks in advance.

In terms of gi, you'll find that the Mundials are rated above all else. Then the CBJJO Del Mundo (BJJ World Cup)
Pan-Ams seem to be next, followed by the Brazilian nationals. Aklthough logic dictates the Euro Mundials should overtake the Brazilian nationals at some point. The Asian Mundials happened only once, I think. SO fuck that one.
For no-gi; the big name is obviously ADCC. Although it'll be interesting to see how the Mundials No-Gi competition develops, and whether it'll give it a run for it's money. In America you can't go wrong with Grapplers Quest either, although not near the above two. There are so many no gi competitions it;s not even funny. So the big two > the others.
