Thanks for that. The 6th degree is out there for sure. He does seem to be a legit black though this claim just salts him up with no support for it. Thanks again anyways.

Does anyone know of a good place within about 5 miles of Northbrook, Illinois? It's really a bitch when the closest place, New Breed, is 12 miles away and I have to share a car with my mom.

I am staying with a friend in the West Lakeview area. It's my first time to Chicago and I'm not familiar with the areas mentioned in this thread. What good gyms are closest to me?

Gracie Barra would probably be closest to you, take the brown line north to Western, walk a couple blocks north to the light past the McDonalds and take a left (that's Lincoln Ave.), the street curves to the right, and you'll see Gracie Barra on your left side (corner of Lincoln & Ainslie-there's a stop sign at that corner). Whereabouts in West Lakeview are you? If you're into Judo, there is a place called Tohkon on Clark & Montrose.

It's like 5 minutes tops. It's only three blocks from the El stop.

Cleverson Silva now teaches at a gym a couple nights a week. He's a pretty cool cat. He's located just off Lake Cook Rd and Waukegan. I believe he's in that one building called "Joy of the Game" I think that used to be a bowling thing. He's in that building or the adjacent building though.

Without knowing your transportation situation, here are a list of gyms that are reasonable close to you and should be somewhat convenient for you.

As mentioned, Barra is likely the closest to you and basically just a little northwest of you.

You could take the Red/Purple line to Carlson's just off LaSalle and Division.

You could go down a little be further south and go to Valko's or POW's

If you head up north and get off and either Foster and Davis stops on the Red/Purple line, you could go to Serafin's in Evanston.

Or you could come over to us in New Breed if you get off the Redline at Howard and hop on the 97 bus going west.

Regardless, you've got lots of options.
