FLO martial arts is in Palatine and that is where Shonie Carter teaches and also Terry Martin trains there. They have supposedly a 8 or 10 time world bjj champion for bjj.
No supposedly to it, Cumprido IS a multiple world champ and is a fantastic BJJ guy. i dont know the whole program there (I have only dropped in to train once) but Cumprido IS an awesome BJJ guy, and hands down has to have the best BJJ credentials in the area.

Since I am a terrible typist and dont spellcheck, and really dont know how it was spelled, take my apology. But then again his wont be the first or last name I slaughter when I spell it.

Was just a friendly correction. Don't apologize to me, who knows what "cumprido" means in portugese But yes, he is the highest pedigree black belt Illinois has right now. Anyone would be lucky to train with him for sure.

Well I was going to be up that way in a couple weeks and I would rather not have his world champ fury on me when I go into his place.

i met him briefly at naga chicago. it was funny that i watched him in arte suave while i was cutting weight and then he was cornering against me at a tournament the next day. very nice guy and i'm sure that he's very fun to train with.

Comprido is the man. He's not exactly in Chicago though.

For over all MMA I would say FLO would be your best bet if you want to make a carrer out of it.

Hi,
I live in Chicago and want to start training BJJ again. I was close to my blue belt at my old school but I had to move. From looking at this thread and the net, the two closest schools seem to be Carlson Gracie's and POW Kickboxing. They both seem to have nice facilities so I was wondering if anyone had experience with both outfits and could compare pro/cons. Just checking the website, it seems POW has a ton of different classes compared to Carlsons but how is the instruction/people etc? Anyone with info PM me, I'd appreciate it.
