I have friend right down the street from Rey with some wrestling but no BJJ experience. He's WAY out of shape, like heavy and been going through some depression stuff. He really thinks BJJ would help him get in shape and get his mental stuff together. Just curious if Rey's would be receptive to someone who isn't in great shape and everything.

yes he would. we had a couple guys who were in awful shape and rey is pretty receptive to that. there are some young athletic guys there as well as some lesser experienced overweight dudes.

rey is also as friendly as they come. it's very hard not to like him. I actually make the long drive once in a while to visit because I like him as a person.

My coach had Rey come in for a seminar along with one of his black belts not too long ago. Absolutely amazing seminar and his bjj knowledge and friendly demeanor is enough to lift you up on your worst of days. i absolutely agree with hamoom.

I've occasionally trained at Rey's (they have open mat and seminars), and it has always been awesome. Rey is really friendly. I've seen him roll with little kids and they're all having a great time.

Really can't go wrong with Rey's.

i did seminar with rey, and i have to agree with everything said, i can't think of a bad thing to say about the guy. straight forward, nice guy, and he still remembers me when i see him at tournaments.

Have never met him, but I judging from his instructional, he's fairly underrated fwiw.
