cracked/bruised ribs

went to the local wrestling club today for the first time and the instructor pulled some sort of arm drag take down on me. He landed on me and now my ribs hurt quite a lot. I am wondering what is the best way to recover from this??

uuuhhh its probably not cracked or else you would go hospital to check it out because it would e hard to move and breath(in general, hurts to move)

id say either go really slow next time, or wait till it heals

Won't be cracked. If it was cracked/broken you would have problems breathing.
More likely to be bruised.
Depending on the pain, a week up to 2 months in more serious injuries is usually enough time for them to heal.
There are a few threads here about ribs.
google rib injuries for a self diagnosis.

I was tripped then somebody landed on me about a year and a half ago. It didn't hurt for a while but when I went home and lifted something I suddenly felt a really bad pain on the middle/side portion of a couple ribs. I had trouble breathing, couldn't get out of a chair easily, couldn't lift at all for a couple weeks (And when I did start lifting it re-agrivated it for months, especially shoulder exercises or anything above my head).

So the year and a half + later its still uncomfortable to put pressure on, I can't sleep on that side without it bothering me, and its generally uncomfortable doing a lot of things with it. I can take heavy impacts without like having trouble (I was kickboxing and ate about 5 round house kicks right into the injured area with only having some mild aftereffects of pain and soreness on the damaged spot) so long story short is that normal for a cracked rib or a seperated rib or what?

I don't really want to pay to have it checked out now (And when I hurt it I was between insurance providers) so is it all normal or something to worry about?

I've seperated ribs before. I was caught in a gilotine (wrestling style, known as 'the twister' in BJJ) and the guy pulled back too fast. Tore the cartlidge between two ribs. I can tell you how the sports doctor diagnosed it. He put his hand on my rib cage and asked me to do a crunch. The ribs slid right underneath of eachother as my ab muscles pulled on them. Hurt like hell. I can still cause my ribs to move a little to this day (7 years later), but it doesn't hurt anymore.

If you've been hurting for more than a year and a half it's time to go to a doctor. Find a sports doctor. Regular doctors will just tell you to take a few weeks off and then come back if it still hurts. Sports doctors are more sympathetic to your need to train.

With ribs, there isn't much the doctor can do except tell you to take his estimated time off from training....
I've bruised and cracked my ribs before.
The first time I went to the doctor, cus the trouble in breathing worried me.
Gave me some pain killers, and 6 months off training.
