I was a pure grappler, and so far I've only competed in grappling tournaments (not counting Taekwondo).
But just tonight, I joined a kickboxing club to suppliment my grappling. I'd never compete in kickboxing, but learning a striking technique would benefit my skills greatly.

I'm a pure grappler in all worlds. I have had very little stand up instruction and have wrestled for about 13 years and have been doing BJJ like a year now.

I'm a pure grappler but I have some stand up background. As much as I enjoy MMA, fighting in MMA isnt interesting to me. I love rolling with people who just grapple because alot of the guys who truely love jiu jitsu, wrestling, judo etc. are cool and I enjoy meeting people from all around the world just to talk about grappling either in real life or the internet. I not trying to stereotype but from my personal experience alot of guys (not really the pros but ams and casuals) who train MMA have the " my gym is better then yours" thinking and act tough towards me. But I havent ever meet anyone who trains and loves grappling that hasnt been interesting to talk too. I enjoy looking at other gyms and see what their training is like and different styles of warm ups, techniques, rolling etc and most have been welcoming. Grappling is what I enjoy and Grapplers can be some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet even if the can kick your ass
Sorry for the wall of text BTW

ya, i would tend to agree that straight grappling clubs are much less in the tough guy mentality. just my opinion.

I am doing three more mma fights, I used to box/kickbox. But find I just like to roll these days. I am getting to old to fight, so I think I will always hit the bags but I will always roll.

Agreed.
I studied a couple TMAs years ago, but these days I'm a pure grappler. I do BJJ for a handful of reasons, but one of the biggest is because I want to compete in grappling tournaments.

did a little judo, and do bjj every day i can. Pure grappler 4 life.. if i had a gang sign i would throw it up. I want to get back into more judo when i come off my injury... but ive been saying that for over a year.. even before i was injured..
Not really interested in doing any striking..i know ity would make me more complete as a fighter.. but my hands hurt as it is, and i hate headaches..

A little bit less.. especially in the upper ranks. I think alot of it has to do with the injuries and beatings that come daily from bjj. Over time you cant be on everyday and as a result you lose or are beatin by someone you should probably beat.. this happens again and again throughout the years resulting in a more humble man.. who just wants to train.
