Anaconda Choke Help

I am having problems finishing the anaconda choke and am wondering if some experts could give me some pointers and/or alternate finishes. I get it locked in properly, but after the gator roll when I walk my legs toward my opponent, he simply walks away from me. We just keep making a circle with our bodies. The only way I end up finishing the choke is if we run into a wall. Am I doing something wrong? Is this a common problem? Are there other ways to finish the anaconda choke?

If you have him 90% choked already by the time you do the roll, his neck will be too compacted and squeezed together for him to be able to walk away frm it. Secure the choke deep to where he's about to tap before you even roll. Then when you roll, you should really only have to take one or two steps and he's out. Cinch he choke WAAAAY deeper before you gator roll.

This help???

Also, don't just walk with your legs, remember to suck your hips in.

Yeah, I basically do it like that too, but when you roll with a partner that has felt that submission before, they don't lay there and let you hook the leg like in that video. You can tell when you watch that video that the partner is being pretty passive and letting his leg get hooked for the purposes of the video. If I could hook the leg I wouldn't have a problem.

That being said, I will have to try getting it tighter and using my hips more.

2 things that helped me with the anaconda and brabo was something Robert Drysdale showed at a seminar.

He makes sure that the arm being trapped is as extended as possible and that you reach as deeply as possibly with the arm that is wrapped around the neck, point your hand to the sky and try and grab the ceiling. I think about trying to get my shoulder of the arm reaching through to the opponents neck not just my bicep. It's almost like you are dipping your shoulder a little bit.

When you reach that deep and roll the submission is super tight even for a guy with skinny arms like myself.

look into switching your grip after you roll (i.e lock into the opposite bicep). just make sure you keep your pressure on the head and neck as you make the transition

I don't like that first instructional. this one's better:

it used to be in the UBER-STICKY, but that seems to have disappeared during Zankou's spring cleaning, lol
