Keep your gi from stinking...

I wash my gi after every practice and hang dry it like everyone I've talked to recomends but for some reason my gi always has a slight stinch to it that just doesn't smell...clean..for lack of a better word. It's not like a musty smell or anything, it just doesn't smell right.

Does anybody spray anything on their gi to make it smell better or anything like that. Kind of a weird question but thought someone might have a trick.

I use to always hang my gi after I washed it. Now I put it through the dryer on the lowest heat setting. Does the trick for me. Try using more detergent or bleaching it

I wash my gi at a laundry mat.

They have a front loaded washer, that washes my gis 3 times then I add softner to them then hang dry it above my split a/c for my apartment. I gave my gi to a friend to add my competition patch on it. He threw it on his couch went to the car and remembered he left his sewing machine at his apartment. He put on the patch and gave the gi back to me.

Later his girl comes home and sits on the couch to watch t.v., smells the couch and it has the smell of the gi on the couch and talks to my friend. I don't know what the conversation was but he told he still smelled my gi when he came home. hahaha.

Clean triple washed gi with softner for the win!

I add some Oxi Clean to my wash and it helps with the stink.

in the beginning washing it and air drying it worked, then washing it and then throwing it in a dryer on low setting with a bounce sheet worked... now... same as above but i febreeze it with a squirt or two and it seems to do the trick...although it never smells as good as the girls in my class...i think estrogen is the key.

put mine to dry on my backyard fence; this tricks me into thinking that odor you are talking about is just a result of being in the yard all day.

Wash it twice and put in the dryer on - no heat tumble. Your funk should go away.

Don't use more detergent or add bleach. All you'll be doing is wasting detergent and destroying your gi.

When washing your gi (and gym clothes for that matter) add a box of baking soda, along with regular amount of detergent and let the gi soak for 15 minutes or so (check to see if you're washing machine has an autosoack option).

Also when drying be sure to use a fabric freshener or if hang drying spray down with a bit of febreze.

Don't ever bleach your gi. It will destroy the fabric.
