2004 Olympic Wrestling Silver medalist Stephen Abas first time sub grappling-vid

YouTube - Justin Gigliotti vs Stephan Abas

What do you guys think? Does he have a future in MMA? He is one of my all time favourite wrestlers ever. I love his explosive, slick, aggressive style. He's probably the best wrestler to ever come out of California. He has some pretty crazy kicks, because he is a Capoeira guy too. Im sure he can pick the Muay Thai/Striking up faster than other athletes who have never trained striking before. There has never been a lightweight UFC fighter that has his wrestling credentials.

Incase some of you who don't know who im talking about. Here are some of his credentials/highlights.
-3 Time Cali State hs school champ
-3 time NCCA champ
-Jr World champ
-2004 Olympic Silver medalist
-2008 Olympic trials runnerup- lost 2 out of 3 matches against Henry Cejudo with no ACL. Cejudo went on to win gold in Beijing. But to win 1 match against Cejudo with NO ACL shows you how tough/skilled this guy is.

Cejudo/Abas Series HL here
YouTube - 55kg/121 lbs Cejudo vs Abas Highlights

Here are some of his college highlights

Anyone who is Olympic lvl wrestler could have a future in mma imo. With his work ethic/experience cutting weight/obvious skillset I'm sure he can go far.

Holy crap thank you for this.

Abas has most definitely been training for a while, but he still has some wrestling tendencies.

He literally just laid in mount and went for a headlock choke.

Abas was def one of the most fun wrestlers to watch but saying he is the best to ever come out of Cali is a bit of an overstatement.

I think Mark and Dave Schultz fight for that claim.

Tremendous potential but probably too small for the UFC. He wrestled at 121 lbs just last year

Abas was something special in high school. I remember watching him, absolute take-down machine. He wrestled in the early to mid 90s.

This is my favorite wrestling highlight.

Too bad they took the music off.

Abas is a cool guy, he instructed a camp I went to back in HS. Def has the talent to make some noise.
