Man, I know Dekkers is good, but not greatest of all time. The Dekkers fights they show on ESPN, are all losses. Danny Bill beat him quite easily, actually. Im just saying, there should be a seperate category for best "westerner" to fight muay thai.
|
Well Danny Bill is pretty great himself. Several of Dekkars fights on ESPN were towards the end of his career as well, the guy has had like 10+ operations to keep his shin from dissolving. Though I dont agree he was greatest ever, the Thai people hold him in very high regard and he is great and can be compared to the best, though he isnt the best.

Apidej Sit Hrun held seven titles at the same time, Is believed to have the most powerful kicks ever, and was named by the king, the greatest muay thai fighter of the century.
that must count for something.
he was the head trainer at fairtex Bang Phli but retired 2 months ago, gonna miss him there.
one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to meet.

Well, the guy fought 210 matches. You don't think he has a few losses. Apart from that, Dekkers fought Bille when the doctors had told him never to fight again because his right ankle was damaged. So to put it as bluntly as you do, doesn't do justice to Dekkers. He lost to Bille, yes, but that was a Dekkers in the winter of his career. He's still a 8 times world champion.

Why are people mentioning Buakaw? He's a two-times K-1 MAX champion. He made a career out of fighting K-1 rules, not Muay Thai rules. So to call him one of the best Muay Thai fighters ever... My vote goes to Apidej Sit Hrun.
