when u don't have power

when u have textbook shots, can put ur shots together, work head and body an u don't put someone down or hurt them; u probably lack punching/striking power.

the reason i came up w/this was in discussing two fighters one in mma, one in boxing; the mma guy was guy mezger. Someone who at this time in mma was one of the better strategical and technical strikers all the way up until his retirement; he had good positioning, put strikes together, used the full range leg/mid/high kicks, hooks/cross/uppercot/jab, knees. An eff put his shots together..an set them up. Yet he had a low ko count in mma; which i explained was a lack of power, to land so many shots that were setup well, put together well and mixed w/a range..he should have put many guys around. But did not stp leinenger-arona-sak-noguiera-ortiz and many others he fought; he rocked them but never put them down. Esp leinenger who he totally opened up on

Same goes for PBF-in all his most recent fights he lands many clean, textbook, fast shots, combinations and excellently set up w/him in great position. Yet he has had a hard time stopping people judah/mitchell/corley/baldomir/castillo/ and even the guys he stopped it took extensive timeframes.

now a ko is a ko; but when u are text book and have good or great physical ability and execution and u can't stop someone when landing numerous clean/crisp shots, to me that shows a lack of power. Because u are landing the best u have in the best manner possible, not just on or two clean shots but many...

if u have ko power u ko people when u land one or two clean shots, u don't take 15-20 to get that effect unless the guy u face has a great chin and most of the guys mezger/pbf faced had ok chins... an yet they weren't capable of stopping any of them. Now in mma its a little diff..but power is power and if u unload w/15-20 hard clean shots and u don't stop a non striker i have to wonder. An when u have guys w/power who land they stop people compare what silva did to sak w/one shot or liddel did w/one shot or belfort did to silva or cro cop or henderson did or even what ramapage did..all guys who were a step below guy tech.

same thing w/pbf- castillo has been hurt and stopped by lesser boxers-same w/judah and w/sharmba mitchell or baldo and so on.

im not saying someone can't punch but when u have that crisp tech and skillset off/def and ur not putting people away..it makes me question ur power... it could be that ur opp has that good a chin; but i think its a matter of u not being able to punch, an of course if u land enough u can and will stop someone. But i think that is a matter of volume and quantity not power.

example griffin v bonnar neither guy can really punch, an their chins were overrated by that fight; people thought they could take such a shot, when in fact u had to avg punchers unloading on each other..

seeing that bonnar has been stopped by a guy w/above avg power and griffin was as well; lends credence to that fact in that in both fight they took fewer shots but lasted a shorter time.

an other fights have shown that they lack a bit of pop in their shots

power is important, but it's not everything.

aim seems important too.

most people seem to say that you need to work technique first, then speed, then power. They define power as a really good snap at the end. I was always told not to 'push through' the punch. Snap at the end like a towel. If you have aim, you should ko.

by the way, it's really hard to understand your writing.

im just sayin when ur throwing crisp/sharp/pinpoint shots; but ur not rocking or putting people away it shows u lack power.

i used pbf as an exammple cus he is the kinda guy who has excellent tech/speed/timing/ aim and works body and throws in combo; but he has had trouble stopping people as of late.. an even when he was stoppin people it was afte 5-6rounds of dominating..

which lets me know he is not a big puncher...u don't land that cleanly and consistently and not stop people in a quicker manner if u have any real ko power
