Using Handwraps

I just started training in MT. I guess I hit pretty hard and my hands and wrists get pretty sore after a workout. Will handwraps help me with that? I don't want to look like a poser coming into the gym as a newbie all wrapped up. Also, if I don't use wraps would that actually help to strengthen my hands and wrists? Same thing with ankle supports.

Yeah wrap your hands, I don't use ankle supporters myself, but it seems like a lot of people do.

Use wraps. This is for your personal health and well being so fuck what other people think. You don't even have to hit hard to hurt your wrist; one "wrong" punch can screw you up, too.

I don't use ankle supports but am considering it. I use knee supports though.

wrapping your hands has nothing to do with experience. It is not like jui-jitsu where a total newbie walks in first day with a nice high name brand, high quality gi and gets targeted.

everyone should wrap their hands, no matter how hard/soft they punch or how much experience they have.

Seeing someone who deos not wrap their hands is like seeing someone who does not breathe when they strike. It's retarded. You will never find anyone that knows what they're talking about tell you not to wrap your hands. The first reason to wrap your hands is that it holds the small bones together tight and prevents them from slipping out on impact, which is how the knuckles are broken. The second reason, if you wrap them western boxing style, which is the only way most people know how, is that it protects your wrist.I prefer the Thai style wrap method. If your school is not telling you to wrap your hands then I question how legit they are. Once you know how to punch properly, you will break your hand if they are not wrapped.
Consider that many proboxers such as gatti and Mayweather have broken their hands many times during fights, and thats WITH their hands wrapped and WITH a 10oz glove over them. Remy Bonjasky says he has broken his hands more times than he can count.
If you need to know how to wrap properly, send me a pm.

use ankle supports, i like them, but i feel i lose my footing sometimes while using them.

Just use cheap brand Walmart hand wraps and they won't gang bang you to death.
