Icon2 Training of Francisco Bojado:

Been a while since I done one of these. Fransisco "Panchito" Bojado was a talented young up-and-comer, and student of Floyd Mayweather Sr. Unfortunately for him he ran into a grity Veteran and lost...then sort of fell off the planet. Kind of goes to show you how far talent goes. He's supposedly making a comeback sometime soon, but this kid always looked good in the gym and still does.

First and foremost, you guys have seen me post on speed-bagging. Here's how it's supposed to look:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5WyDGUIoQA

Some drills and a decent Interview about his career:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDx66MRMLq8

Before the downfall:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjOs1suUAE0

That video demonstrates one of Boxing's great flaws as a Sport that came on the heels of Tyson's stardom. Four words: Too much, too soon.

See what your fellow Sherdoggers have to say about it:

What ever happened to Francisco "Panchito" Bojado?

Bojado? Took the gold in the same olympics as Jeff Lacey was right? (can't watch the videos here at work so if the answer is in one of them just ignore me). I remember when he was a huge prospect. Real fast as I recall, and a different style than your typical "Mexican Fighters," at least from what I had seen. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

When he was big was about the time I stopped paying attention to boxing and hadn't even known he lost. Can't wait to get home and watch the vids.

Thanks for the update KK!

Yeah he was the a-typical Mexican boxer. Didn't lead with his face, good defense, exceptional hand-speed. But no 19 year-old kid is ready for the word "Champion" IMO unless it's something they were groomed to be since very young, and even then it's usually overwhelming. So when Leija starched Bojado, he didn't know how to deal with it and fell apart.

i saw a sparring match between him and larry mosley good stuff to watch; it was when he was initially trained by mayweather, think it had been like two fights. Real good textbook off/def and strategy by two tech sound fast boxers

He must have lost that hunger, he can still probably make a comeback, relatively young, what a waste of talent if he doesnt.

He might have never really had the hunger. The World may have manufactured that. Often times that's what kids like him find out. They have to ask "why fight?" It usually happens when they don't or can't win.
