TKD and MMA...for all the non beleivers (HL VID INSIDE)

Latley there has been an influx of un intellegent opinions on the Martial art of TKD and how its striking in MMA is not effective (or as effective as other arts).

Here is an MMA fighter Lukasz Jurkowski

http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/f...ighterID=14131

THATS his Sherdog profile.

So lets see now.....

What do u get when u combine TKD with some takedown defence...some takedowns of your own and some Ground and pound training.

this is what u get

As an ITF TKD guy myself this is cool to see. To play devil's advocate, however, I note that most of his wins are by submission. I'd expect a few knockouts LHK style! Obviously crosstraining is important.

I have to send this to my buddy. This could have been him 15 years ago. He (like myself) has been doing ITF TKD since he was little, but was also a state finalist in wrestling three years in a row back in high school. He'd have been a good fit for MMA. We're about equal in TKD when we spar, but when we grapple he makes me his bitch (I'm sorry to say).

But now he is in his mid thirties with four kids. MMA ain't happening for him (although he would love to compete). Whenever he starts getting the urge I'm like, "Dude. Our wives get pissed off because we stay late to train ONE night of the week. How are you going to find the time to put in the proper training..."

Not really, but the thread-starter could just make a duplicate one.

I agree with everything Aaron said, though I don't think this dude would do too well at the level he's at, in the main Federations. He's got plenty holes in his technique, and doesn't appear to be in the best of conditioning. I'd love to see him move to the next level and do as David Loiseau is doing though.

He's trying to witty (it isn't working) because that guy won mostly by submission so the smart ass thinks that he isn't tkd, but a grappler.

Grappling Forum in that a large percentage of his fights were won by Submission.

You can train any traditional fighting art there is and make it effective by modifying it to include boxing basics and grappling, I don't think anyone would argue that.
