Icon2 Starting Boxing in Sept.

So im starting in a boxing club come september, anything u guys think i should concentrate on now before i go, like cardio? ,,, whatever u guys think will help give me and edge going in. I already have a preety good base im in pretty good shape i lift weights 5 days a week and have good cardio, i have a speed bag, target mitts and heavy bag at home and have been working on those for almost 2 years now. im ready , i live in a small town where there is no martial arts available , so i have to drive 2 hours to this boxing club 2 -3 days a week .. the price is $50 a month starting off .. u think thats a good price ??
thx.

If you go in in-shape, perhaps with a 6-pack, looking like a fighter and with good enough cardio to sustain the ass-whippin's, that will say a whole lot about you. Better that than anything else. Even guys with a big punch, fast hands, good footwork, all get tired eventually.

You should start running now, because you sure as hell will be running once you get into it. At this point your roadwork is ten times more important than your 5 days of lifting, so if you have to choose, run!

Did you have any formal training before you started using the heavybag, focus mitts and speedbag (if you're using it more like an offensive-only DE bag instead of the traditional sustained circle punching)?

i would say work on cardio too... cuz they'll teach you all you need to learn about your technique... but cardio is an asset that you cant be taught.. you can learn everything else about boxing..
