nobody says its technically accurate, same with chuck, which is why it is a mystery. I'm waiting for vilo or KK to shed some light because they would knkow more.

I feel the standup in MMA is bad because they dont practice it enough. Everyone wants to grapple because grappling training is easy. Easy with regards to taking punishment I mean. They roll and nobody gets hurt. Someone gets a submission, and the guy taps out, without feeling hardly anything. In stand up, to be good, you have to spar. Standup sparring can be quite painful. You get hit. You get kicked. Im not just making this stuff up either. I see guys come into the gym all the time to"roll." It seems like these guys wanna "roll" because its a fad or sumthin. Then I see if they wanna spar standup. They get kicked in the leg a couple of times, quit, and I never see them again. Look MMA fighters, "rolling" is cool and all, but you guys should really concentrate more on the things you suck at. You wont lose anything, cause what youre good at, will always be there. Suck it up, and get your standup tight.

On a technical note, it seems that defensively, your hands need to be a little more active with the smaller gloves. Just covering up doesnt always cut it with the MMA gloves.

no doubt there is more punishment in sparring , but i dont think fighters slacking on standup training is the reason mma standup isnt as technical as it could be.

That is laughable. If you are training grappling correctly it is anything but easy.

It is a complete pkg so how can you say overall that mma is bad at standup. I agree with some points of this thread

it's kinda funny when u think about it. when i talked to bjj guys when i did bjj, they think that most mma fighters(amateur wise) seem to do way more standup than groundwork.

It is easy with regards to taking punishment. Sure, rolling is a good workout. Sparring standup is way harder on the body than rolling is.

Youre kinda right. MMA is an overall game, but I feel that the majority of fighters concentrate on groundwork, buying into the BJJ fad. Where do you guys think it is easier to survive, if you know only the basics? On the ground or standing?
