Spinning hook kick tutorial version 1
The kick works the same way, the steps are the same eccept for the path of the foot. Bend the leg and throw a very chambered roundhouse or a spinning side kick so that the foot lands 15-30 cm lateral from the target. Shortly before the leg fully stretches begin to flex the gluteus a make the countermotion with the upper body. Follow through the target with the straight leg bend it as soon you hit the target.

I used it quite effectively when I competed in the Texas State TKD championships in 92. In fact I was so quick and fast with it, I could throw it three times in a row. I KO'd about 4 guys with it during the tournament before some other dude KO'd me with an axe kick on the way in.

I sound like a broken record, but once again, excellent form. I find students seem to be to nail this kick a lot easier than the the straight leg version---and I'm not sure if it's a question of flexibility or balance.
BTW, what the heck is that focus pad hanging from?

It's easier to do the first version for beginners actualy, there is no timing confusion since the leg is straght all the time and you can concentrate on the hip movement and the counter movement. With the bent leg you need to make sure to have the right angle when stretching the leg, right timing to make the transition from the straight movement to the rotation etc.
That is a punching sack hanging down, it's flying around in our closet noone uses it cause it is partialy filled with rocks and weighs around 9 lb, but it was perfect to hold the target pad between the ropes.
