Silly question old style fistfights

Silly question old style fistfights

Well I was watching "For a Few Dollars More" with Clint, and you know they had those western style fistfights, like they do in most western movies and in other action movies from the 70ths.

You know the style where you block by crossing forearms, kinda: block, block straight or hook.

Is this how bare knuckle boxing looked like? Any valid sources that say that this was how bar brawls used to look like? Or is it resembling some other style/martial arts?

i have seen many bare knuck fights on vid from old time boxers and have never seen that.

but it is a block that does exist for general self defense. say someone is swinging a club downwards. its called a cross block.

You would use your forearms in a cross block to block a downwards club attack?

I guess if you want to get your forearms broken to go along with your smashed in head.

if you dont want to get your forearm broken the cross block will work better. its also a quick transition into an armbar.

to be fair i think it is something that is designed for woman.

no, i'm sure they used something actually effective. you should youtube some jack johsnon fights though,. even though they weren't bare knuckle, it's interesting to see pro boxers fighting out of the clinch.
