Little brother's first kickboxing match, video included!

Hey, hows it going everyone? Just thought I'd provide you with some entertainment.

My little brother, Toma, fought his first fight this past Saturday (03/31/07) in the Ring of Fire in Monrovia, Ca. We both train in Muay Thai in Upland, Ca at the West Coast Jiu Jitsu gym. This fight was given to him last notice, he was offered the fight Monday and fought Saturday. This fight was a kickboxing match with kickboxing rules (no knees, no clinches, & no elbows) in the featherweight division.

It was a great fight, my little brother did great and got the crowd behind him when he started landing headkicks (he landed 4 throughout the match).
I also want to give you a heads up about the audio and camera work. I was very excited and nervous at the time, so youll hear me throughout the movie cheering and screaming him on. The excitement also got to the camera work, in certain points, it would point away from the action but only in the first round. So, without further ado, I present you the video.

Toma is the fighter in the black trunks with red trim. Enjoy folks.

what did he weigh in at?

how tall is he?

how old is he?

to be honest i dont wanna talk shit, but i dont think he won. Other guy got alot more punches in and was backing red up. at the end of the second red was trapped in teh corner.

he did land some good kicks though. does he not like to use his hands much?

Congrats to your brother man. It is hard to get in the ring. Most people don't realize how scary it is the first time you climb in there, and every time after that for that matter.

just curious how old he is. its hard to tell from the fuzzy video but he looks like 15. good for him, getting in the ring is no joke.

iwannafightu2: I agree with you to a certain extent. I do believe that his opponent did push the pace and take the second round but that’s it. The first and third round my brother took it pretty decisively by setting up and landing various kicks, high and low. Especially, the third round, after getting a feel for the fighter and his style, my brother was much more aggressive and pushed the pace nearly the entire round.
What I also failed to mentioned earlier is that his opponent had already had 3 amateur boxing matches under his belt, so he definitely was comfortable in the ring due to his experience. My little brother actually has some pretty good hands, decent speed with a good amount of power behind them. My brother was coached into utilizing his kicks during the match because his opponent was more a boxer than a kickboxer. Also, my brother and I have been training for 5 months.

Weighed in: 131 lbs
Height: 5'8" or 5'9"
Age: 16

Tom Hishon: Thanks for the feedback, Ill make sure to pass it on to my little brother. You're very correct in your assesstment about being nervous when stepping into a ring. My little brother told me he was more intimidated by the size of the crowd than his opponent. But after watching him fight, I, more than ever want to step into the ring and compete.

dat1978: My little brother is 16 turning 17 in a few weeks. I agree with you, stepping into the ring is definitely no joke. Thank you also for the feedback.
