Easy Bleeders?

I wasn't sure if this was the correct forum, but I couldn't find a better one. I find that I bleed easily when it comes to sparring. I don't think it's because my lack of defence. I tend to keep my hands high, and constantly move my head around. But my nose often bleeds in most of my sparring sessions. What causes this and is there anyway to fix this? I was thinking that this may be caused partly by genetics, but I want to see if any of you guys have any ideas or tips. Thanks.

I used to suffer from the same problem but I had my nose cauterized last year and have only bled once. Ask your doctor about it, it is a simple procedure that can be done in 5-15 minutes. You have a rod stuck up your nostril with a chemical smeared on it, this is rubbed on the inside of your nostril which in turn burns out the veins close to the surface of the skin.

These veins close to the skin are the reason why your nose bleeds, mine used to be really bad even bleeding in hot weather! The procedure itself stings a bit and you wont be able to spar for about a week but its well worth it.

It sounds like you may just be a bit of a bleeder. It's not really a significant problem unless it's a psychological one for you, or your eyebrows open up easily. A cut over the eye will get your fight stopped if it's bad enough while a nosebleed almost never will. If it's really a big deal for you, get the above procedure done.

If you find out medically if you have thin blood, there are ways to counter-act that. There are supplements that speed the process of clotting and also of the body's ability to avert bloodflow away from wounds.

If your skin consistency is bad, there are also ways to improve that. But you have to get to the bottom of what's causing it.

Do you take any meds that are prone to bleeding. There are some medications that make you prone to bruising and bleeding.

I know that when I've been dinged up pretty good and start taking too much aspirin I will bleed much more readily and longer than if I stay off it. I also bruise much more if I take aspirin before grappling also. My arms will look like I painted them camoflauge after a session. I switched to none aspirin stuff and it has made a diffrence.

You can try to get more vitamin K, it can cause blood to clot faster

Anything that thins the blood will do this.

I'm currently not taking any medications for my training. I try to stay as natural as possible. What's weird is that I have never been cut around the eye, or got heavy bruises, just bleeding in the nose. About the medical procedure of putting the chemical in your nose, have any of you done it had any side effects?

Where can you find out if you have thin blood? Do they do this at regular doctors' offices?
