My advice is to at least make sure you do put that money in the college fund.

I'd love to get some private lessons but I'm dirt-ass poor.

Ha ha...don't worry about the college fund. The wife will make sure that is all set up and funded. But she resists every martial arts expense to the max. She can't understand why I would PAY to roll around with guys (Sambo). And when I showed her the grappling dummy she said, "There is no way you're having that in our house. The neighbors will think you're carrying around a dead body in here."

Ah the joys of marriage...

I don't take them since I show up for the morning MT and BJJ classes, which rarely have over 8 people...on a good day, there's often 2-6 people, I just always felt like I got plenty of personal attention. And being in college = me not monied *sigh* I used to remember real food. If you think cutting weight is rough, try doing it on dorm food, I'm amazed I don't have scurvy.

I used to take private lessons, £20 an hour, well worth it.

Best to do it with a sparring partner aswell.

if you are planning on getting private lessons i would suggest you go with what the teacher says and possibly have a criteria or specific area you want to work on. have several questions lined up as well and see if you can video it too.

One of the instructors at my gym charges $60 for a one hour private lesson. He offered to give me a discout, so I'll be having one in a few weeks.
