Ugh.

I hate it when people don't know how to hold pads / shields correctly and I wind up smashing the top of my foot into their pointed elbows. Blearghs!

I also hate it when everyone is so sweaty that the pads get covered in sweat, so when it comes time to practice knees from the clinch, the knees slide right off the pads and into the holder's crotch / abdomen. Shitty deal.

+1, this made all the difference for me. When I stand in southpaw stance I don't have to think right hand=jab it just feels correct since my right hand is now in front.

That, or they don't tighten up on impact, so you end up sliding between the pads and scraping your skin along the stitching of the pad.

I count myself so damn lucky to work with great pad holders.

When I first started I got paired with a dude that weighs about 90kg and kicks
like a mule. We were working the Thai Pads - he started to let fly on the roundhouse kicks but I didn't have the experience to handle it.
I had to ask him to stop and partner with someone bigger.
I felt like such a dick but he was very cool about it.

When a person can't hold the pads the way I like, I tell them no offense but I am going to hit a nearby punching bag instead. I'd rather do something correctly....
