hey guys long time lurked here. I train mma as much as I can. I'm left handed and right footed. Would you guys look at it as advantage or disadvantage and why?

I get frustrated throwing lefts and want to follow with kicks but get frustrated cuz I have to switch up to throw the big right kick... Arrrgh

That's unusual, i've never heard of that. You'd better pick a stance. if you're left handed, I'd go southpaw, it will give you an advantage. Just practice your lead kick with your right.

I'm also a left handed, right footer and i prefer going with a southpaw stance. I'm planning on practicing a lot with my lead leg kicks and switch kicks too.

Wow, i think you would give alot of strikers hissyfits in sparring if you were to hone your game.

I often wonder if Anderson Silva is left footed right handed, he strikes so much with his right, especially some of his big KO strikes

I am the same...right handed but left footed...

I fight orthadox most of the time but I can box southpaw but not very well...

all I can say is... practice switch kicks all the time and learn how to box both sides...

whats good about us is that we can continuosly come forward and strike without switching feet if you know what I mean...

example... I start right hand and foot back in orthadox... I throw a 1-2 and then throw a straight knee or teep... as my right foot plants I can now change levels and kick to the head with my left... if it doesn't land.. I just drop my leg stright down back into orthadox and use my hands to catch him if he rushes in...

the bad thing is that once your opponent figures out whats going on... he'll know that whatever side your facing... the attack will most likely come from the back strong side ie if my left foot is back then hes looking out for my left leg or if my right hand is back then all hes looking for is my hands...

so use alot of jabs, switch kicks and feints to keep them guessing.

Most important though is footwork... its going to be hard at first but really work on footwork and keep centered as you strike and shift positions... this way when you spar or fight all the strikes will flow naturally from whaterver side your fighting from.

Best,

Kokoro

I'm left footed and right handed. I quite like having my power hand behind my jab and hook and i can get more power in the left that way.

Well being a former soccer player I don't find it very unuasual at all, sure there is a correlation between left handed left footed but it is not 100%, more like 75 % if I should make a guess

I like it. Most people don't expect a powerful and accurate (for a leading leg) kick.
