Krav Maga

Peace! I want to get back into the martial arts and after researching different styles I've decided that Krav Maga best suits my needs. I'm just trying to figure out the difference between the different Krav Maga organizations. I live in New York City and I plan on moving to Philadelphia in the future. In New York City and Philadelphia there is the Krav Maga Federation, Commando Krav Maga and Krav Maga Worldwide. Is there a big difference between these organizations? If someone could clear this up for me it would be great.

Thanks,

Kevin

i read somewhere that all you have to do to become a certified krav maga instructor is to take a few seminars. that's it. if you want to do more self defense type of stuff, why not try JKD. a lot more people are doing it, and you'll get a lot more responses from people on sherdog or in real life.

You're going to have to go check out the individual schools. Krav Maga is about as generic as karate anymore. There are some very nasty dudes doing KM that would be great to learn from. The KM school by my house was a bunch of housewives in matching outfits and boxing raps doing cardio kickboxing. That guy was master certified blah blah. I wish I knew what organization certified him but I don't recall.

Like everything there is good and bad. Oh if you find anyone with ties to Imi the founder, he was a bad dude and knew his stuff and anyone he certified directly is probably pretty squared away.
