I've noticed that a lot of the recent Nike commercials are starting to portray that message. Rather than the old standby- "BUY NIKE PRODUCTS!!"- they seem to be conveying that hard work, discipline, courage, etc... are much more important than the type of shoes you wear.
I really liked this commercial to, from the same MJ become legendary campaign:

looks like a bit of a trend with the big sports companies here an adidas one with rugby union legend Jonah Lomu. This guy is one of my heros so is very inspirational to me.
