I usually do about 4 3 min rounds of combos, than 8 tabata rounds of punching out.

KK, this is a great workout that I do when I don't go to MMA. The only question I have is how I should go about adding in Elbows/Knees/Kicks for Muay Thai. Could the last round (the progression), be close range weapons like elbows/knees/kicks instead of close range boxing work?
There's a thread in the Instructional Sticky of Muay Thai rounds if I'm not mistaken.

I enjoyed doing this workout yesterday, only I did it for muay thai.

I did the first 5 rounds the exact same way you did. Then I added 6-10

Round 6 - left roundhouse - 1st minute low kicks
2nd minute - body kicks and high kicks
3rd minute - punch combos followed by kicks

Round 7 - same thing as 6 but with right kicks

Round 8 - Left pushkicks/Right knee
1st minute - Left pushkick
2nd minute - Right knee
3rd minute - Left pushkicks followed by right knees

Round 9 - Right pushkicks/Left knee
Same as last round but opposite pushkick/knee

Round 10- Full muay thai combos

Thanks for the idea KK, I'm definetely going to keep doing this once a week.

I'm going to abuse my students with this tomorrow. Sounds like it'll be good.

Love the workout KK. I train with a former Olympic boxer and we do something very similar to this on our heavy bag day.

Christ, that's a workout!

I respect that you've put your brain to good use and created a workout that builds up logically and incorporates so many major areas. I think great gains can be made intraining by actually thinking about what needs to be worked on before starting and then putting together a strategy that will actually address that need. I suppose that's what coaches are for, but even they can get stuck in their own rut sometimes, or just be shitty.

Don't know if that really conveys what I'm thinking, but yeah, good job. Good luck on the turning pro.
