Not sure if this is true but about why he uses southpaw now but I'll let you know what I know. Stephen Thompson who is a legit kickboxer from Simpsonville, SC has been training on and off with him for a while now. He was in that Chuck Norris kickboxing league and holds some record for most knockouts by headkick. Stephen's style utilizes switching back and forth from orthodox and southpaw on a regular basis. After the first time Stephen went and trained with him he used this style in his next fight.

switching bewteen O and southpaw is very nomral for thai boxers and kickboxers, more thai style tho

guys do it a lot all the time. Petroysan does it...
Kaman did it a lot aswell, and then he tought it to Vera, is prolly does it the best in the UFC

edit* Patrick Barry is a savage when he goes back and foward as well
