Getting your butt kicked in sparring...

I started boxing training about 2 months ago and I just started sparring. The others I have been sparring with are much more experienced and I keep getting outclassed. Naturally this frustrates me.

How did you guys deal with this as a newb?

Look in the instructional threads sticky at the one called "Courage Under Fire"...that'll help. But don't take an ass whoopin personally. Its supposed to be that way, you get better.

It happens to everyone in every sport. There were times where I took such a schooling (which are worse to me than beat downs) that I didn't want to go to the gym. But the only thing to do is to go back and train more.

There was a guy like that at my gym a few years back. He was competitive with guys who had years of experience after six months of training. Dude was a talented boxer, but not a fighter. For some reason he picked up the skills immensely well but couldn't take a punch. My trainer wanted him to be a career fighter but it wasn't in him. Dude quit training after a while.

There are only 2 reasons to not get your ass kicked in sparring.
1) Your the best damn guy in the gym or
2) You don't spar enough.

So deal. It's normal. Jon Jones and JDS have gotten their asses kicked too. It happens to everyone. Just look back at the fight, figure out where you went wrong and how you were defeated, and train harder.
