i first learned how to slip punches by putting on boxing gloves with my buddy and we would only be allowed to jab and we would switch up stances every 2 minutes so that we each got to learn how to slip straight punches from every stance (right vs right, left vs left, left vs right, right vs left). you also get a really good fundamental jab and its not easy to catch somebody with one hand b/c its kind of predictable so you have to really set up your shots if you are going to catch him.

Now stand close to the tennis ball. Stand CLOSE.
Hit the tennis ball and slip when it bounces back. Dont let it touch ur head at all costs.

To make it harder after a while do this:
Close your eyes and hit the tennis ball and open ur eyes when u hear the impact on the wall and then try and slip.
great idea! I tried it. I put an elastic strand through the tennis ball and wrapped some rope around the top and bottom of the tennis ball to keep it from slipping. Tie it to something high and to something low (Basketball hoop and a weight for instance) and you're set!

In my opinion simply sparring is the best way of learn how it feels to have punches and kicks come at you. Just keep at it and before you know it, it will be second nature and feel completely natural checking strikes
