Bad blisters normal?

So i've been training muay thai for about a month and i'm getting half dollar sized blisters on the ball of my foot (under my big toe) that tear open during heavy kick sessions.

I can handle raw blisters that are sore but these guys bleed and they're really deep (more like cuts than blisters). On one hand I don't want to be a pussy and spend the time to bandage them up during class but I also don't want to bleed all over the place (our Kru would kill me). I've lucked out the last two times this happend as it occured right at the end of training.

I feel discouraged that something like this is stopping me from training. I was feeling really good tonight in class focusing on what we were doing and I thought the blister had calloused over (it was healed) but I pivoted and it tore open.

I feel like a pain in the ass, this has to piss our Kru off.

Hey bud, I used to have the same thing when I started out... What I did was I got some medical tape (sports tape) and wrapped my foot with it, but only on the days that I really needed it. It worked perfectly, didn't affect my training one bit. However it could make you slip and fall on your bum since it takes away from your grip slightly but not a big issue in my experience...

By doing this it wont aggravate the problem further and you won't have to worry about bleeding all over the place.

I've heard of people having this problem, but I've never had it myself. Just make sure it doesn't get infected.

This sums it up. When I stopped training for a bit and hit the gym again my feet started blistering up badly. I would just make sure to try and do what I could to prevent any infection. Eventually your body should get used to it and you will no longer get blisters.

Yea when you get home just take good care of your feet. Clean them, soak them and put some sort of moisturizer on them. Eventually your feet will adapt and callous over alot more, just gotta work through it bro.

It's actually healing quicker than it did the first few times. I'm used to blisters from playing ice hockey my entire life but this one was the worst. Thanks for the responses.

I tape my toes before class if it has a blister. Give it a few days until it's healed and then I stop using tape.
