Icon3 In This Corner with Mike McCallum

Here's the Smithy and Mike McCallum interview that I've reuploaded:

YouTube - Mike McCallum Talks Shop

In the video, Mike mentions "stealing". He works behind the jab, getting in position, 'stealing' openings according to his opponent's reactions. I think that should the main point of the jab. It shouldn't simply be thrown for the sake of throwing it, but rather with the intention of creating reactions.

P.S. If anyone here missed out on the In This Corner interviews that were pulled down, you can find them in my channel which can be found in the above link.

Interesting that Winky Wright says the exact same thing. His body shots start with the Jab and looking for openings. Winky is another technician and he says the same thing as Mike just with a little different terms.

Ironic, you wait for what you've already gotten.

Line of sight.

Though that's more about the angles than using the jab to create those angles. I just took that part for granted. The idea of "stealing" is getting a guy to move into your punches, and not allow him to be quite aware of how it's happening.

Not really what I meant, but perhaps I should've put more thought into my previous post. I'm not necessarily looking for more advice from Mike McCallum, although I think it's great, I just think it's awesome that you know and have trained under him.

Jumps on that bandwagon, Oh wait we both already missed it and I actually read that the first time round anyway.

P.S. Sinister what you think of McCallum's career set finally making it on Boxing Junkies, I bet thats when you know you've made it big, Ask Mike for us!

Have trained? Mufucka was all up my ass and around the corner today about how to roll punches properly. Worst part about it is when he demonstrates things by lightly tapping you, it's a lot like being "lightly" hit with a hammer.

I'll ask him tomorrow.

No, it's more like jabbing to get him to move. Or feinting a jab. Then when he commits to his counter, you counter the counter.
