I think that doing more sparring helps control the eyes closing.

Keep your eyes open and you might get hit. Close your eyes and you will get hit.

I used a calculator and everything. No, it's a made up number of course. It was pretty clear in my post that I was making an obvious guess or estimate. I didn't think somebody would actually hold me to this number and argue it. That's retarded.

I have never been hit in the eyeball personally and have never seen it happen with traditional boxing or sparring gloves, only karate mits. If you "get hit in the eyes quite often" then I would suggest making some changes man.

BTW, the only way someone gets hit in the eyes "often" is if they keep their chin up.
