Books on striking

Hey guys,
Ive been training jiu jitsu and thai boxing for about 3 months non-stop. I've had numerous instructors and read a few articles that explain that as a novice. Not to look into books/film on jiu jitsu for it will set me up with bad technique. A few days ago I spotted the books of "Fedor's fightings systems" and "Jackson's Mixed Martial Arts: Stand Up Game." I go to every session I possibly can to try and soak up the most knowledge possible. Would Books on striking be an ideal thing for me? or would it just set me up for failure by way of reading is not effective as learning by muscle memory/with a coach? Opinions please.

I just treat technique manuals as it should be, as reference material. It doesn't replace actual experience, but I find that it can help fill gaps that are encountered in training. I often point to Edwin L. Haislet's manual, Boxing as it's one of the most comprehensive book's on the subject. I recommend reading the counters to the various punches and see what you can implement into your game. Just take it one step and a time, it's a learning process.

Books won't hurt you even if it's not the best of technique in the book if you learn one thing from the book you have gained.

Look at all the books you can. I find downloading torrents of them are the best way to do it.

You should take every single peice of information you read as a grain of salt. Each adds a tiny bit, but you gotta make sure you train, rather than just read. You might know what a triangle, rear naked choke, kimura, half guard sweep, boxing combo, are just from reading a book, but unless you practice it actively its useless.
