Anyone train in San Diego

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone trained in San Diego for boxing or Muay thai? I went to an LA Boxing for about a year but the area in which it was located it was mainly mom and dads going there for fitness not to learn to fight, and thats what I want to do, train to eventually fight.

So i was wondering if anyone knew of a good gym to train at in San Diego? Thanks guys

i cant remember the names but in pacific beach there was a pretty descent gym right on the boardwalk where people rent those crazy scooter things that they say you never fall off of even tho you lean forward to make it move... they have a gracie that comes and teaches their jits classes and a few champion MT guys i think. there is also a place closer to downtown that had REALLY good MT guys and a jits guy that used to train with bj penn before he moved to SD from hawaii

I train at what was once Round 1 boxing but joined with Golds Gym on sports arena. They are changing over to MMA now which im not especially thrilled about. I'm not sure how its going to be after renovations are complete regarding sparring and whatnot but if you want to learn to box the two guys that teach there are slick and definitely know their shit.

I train at Encinitas Boxing.
Another good gym is Chris Getz's Black Tiger on Miramar.
City Boxing has 2 gyms - one downtown and one in Pacific Beach.
Throwdown has a very good gym on Midway near Sports Arena.
Undisputed has a couple of gyms. A friend goes to the one near Hillcrest.

I heard Undisputed in El Cajon is pretty good. SD Fight Club is pretty awesome.

City boxing is cool if your just looking to workout and get in shape. If your want to learn the craft and so forth i would look else where. I'm not badmouthing it as I'm sure there are guys there that know their shit. It's just not a place that is set up to cater to skill over the general public.

legit place.
To the TS, sounds like maybe you were at the LA boxing in Rancho Penasquitos?? If so, do yourself a favor and drive right down the street to Miramar Rd and check out Black Tiger Boxe Thai...especially if boxing and Muay Thai are you main interests. Chris is a good instructor.
