Anyone ever had knee surgery?
OK, in my first fight back in Feb, i threw a knee to my opponents face. He went down, I won the fight. Well, it seems I got the worst of it, because ever since then my knee has been killing me. That was in Feb and my knee still hurts. I had a fight on June 3rd, the one posted on my homepage. The guy kicked me in the exact same spot, but he broke his shin. I had x-rays done and nothing turned up. Im going in on the 17th for an MRI. Theyre telling me i dint tear anything, because they say I wouldnt be able to walk if I did. They say its probably a bone bruise. Why am I still in pain? If I have to have surgery, how long does it take to recover? Will I be at 100 percent after surgery? I know Wanderlei had knee surgery, so is it something that he recovered from, or is he just toughing through pain?

I had a knee surgery. I know for sure that you have to consult a good doctor, preferably the one specializing on injuries from sport, if possible. For me it was impossible to contact a good doctor for more than a year, and during that year I often was in a huge pain.
How fast will you recover? It depends on the type of your injury. If you have damaged your ligaments, then it will be ok relatively quick. If you have a brocken meniscus (that was the case for me), then they make a simple surgery and take part of the meniscus out. If the surgery is ok, you could start to box (without kicking, I think) in a couple of months, and your leg will be completely ok like in a 6-12 months.
Though, I've injured my leg in sambo, not in muay thai, so probably you have another situation. I wish you good luck, anyway!

It's better to give conseravtive advice than BS, but your number are a off I think.
I've had three knee surgeries. The first one was a meniscus tear and I was 100% after 6-8 weeks. I also had ACL reconstruction, which took me roughly 6 months to get 100%. In most cases you should be able to start training lightly before you are a 100%(I started 3 months after acl surgery). Just makes sure to do the physical therapy religiously. It really helps.

This is exactly what I'm going through at the moment. I'm on week 3 and can walk fine and train light, but can't run yet. Thanks for this post buddy, it's nice to know that it'll get better!
