Which Weightclass?

So I'm begining to train to fight and I was wondering how does one determine which weight class to fight at?

I know I'm going to have to cut weight regardless, and I know everybody says fight at the class you are most comfortable at, but basically I'm clueless as to which division I or someone else SHOULD be in.

Because lets face it, 90% of the people you see on TUF will drop a class when they get with professional training camps and get in elite level shape.

Right now I'm totally out of shape at 5'10 205lb (I've been sedentary at college for a few years), I don't think I posses the speed to try and work down to lower classes, but I don't have the size and strength to just go in as is and put on muscle for the higher ones.

p.s. my background is in Karate, TKD and a little bit of boxing.

I'm an 18 year old college student, but I don't work. My schedule is actually free every week. So I could train five hours a day if I wanted. I want to know what the recommended amount of time is. Should I focus BJJ on certain days and Muay Thai on separate days? Or should I practice i both on the same day. How many hours should I focus on both, if I practice in both, 6 days a week? Or if i do them how seperate days how should i schedule that out? thank you

I have a question, I am an Amature fighter

and have 3 fights on my resume. Ive posted on here for years and want to change my screen name to my real name and have Amature Fighter underneath it. I dont have any videos of my fights to prove it. Generally once a month my coach invites a few guys over from a local gym and fight with guys in our gym. Ive faught in 3 of these fights, and around the gym we consider them Amature fights. Guys in my gym that get to like 10-0 in Amature fights usually get a chance to fight for money on the local circuit here in New England.

So basically I want to know how I can get the recognition as being an Amature fighter, and what i got to do to change my user name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i Need Fighting Advice!!!

Im an amateur fighter,
currently i am 2-1 and i need some serious advice on training resume's and what not

my strong base is bjj, and my standup consists mostly of shotokan.
Shotokan is no joke when you adapt it properly so please dont bash me,
i train with kickboxers and muay thai amateur and pro fighters, allowing me to adapt the shotokan style to mma.
Mostly i am looking to get the fight down and survive on the feet until i can, i am 5.7 and fight at 155, so obviously i have t-rex arms like sherk which is why my standup is shotokan, because it allows me to stay out of harms way long enough to sneak in a couple counter punches and get it to the ground where im nice and safe

what i need is training advice, how many hours a day should i focus on training? and on what? what should i eat, and which workouts should i do?
I wakeup at 8:30, and train bjj and a little bit of kickboxing for an hour and a half.
i eat and workout a bit during the day, but im not too sure what workouts to do, mostly i lift weights. At 5:15 i train more bjj for an hour and a half, and go straight from that gym, to my shotokan dojo, where i also train for an hour and a half.

Martial arts are my career choice, mma, karate tournements, and grappling tournements. I love them all. I need to know if there is a better known jiujitsu academy in the CA, Orange County area, Does anybody know any around here where people who actually see themselves doing it for a living and want to be serious about it go? Ive been thinking of going to eddie bravos place. Ive also given thought to going to brazil for a year to train with the same karate expert who is teaching vitor.

Fighters and sherdoggers alike, pleeeease help me!
i know. Wrong forum. But this is my future and i want as many responses and viewpoints as i can get.

I've searched all over the internet and cannot find anything pertaining to my question. I'm curious as to what physical injuries would exempt someone from being able to be licensed by the Athletic Commission for MMA fights. I suffered a TBI (Truamatic Brain Injury) when I was 14 years old, I'm now 24 and haven't had any complications with my injury since it occured.

My question is; would this in some way keep me from getting licensed for amatuer or pro MMA fights? I know they would do the CAT scan and run blood tests, I'm not worried about them personally...but I don't want to change everything about my lifestyle if in the end it isn't even going to work out based off my previous injury. I want to start training Muay Thai and Wrestling roughly at the beginning of the year and train with that for at least two years before getting into my first MMA bout, if and when I do this I will be completly overhauling my dietary habits as well as quit smoking and start taking vitamins along with training as often as I can without causing myself health problems. So this is kind of important for me to know before I rearrange my lifestyle completly.

I am sure there are plenty of you who are just cold as ice and never get nervous but for the rest of us at what point before a fight do you say oh sh*t what did i get myself into?

I would have to say for me I am completely fine and not even thinking about it until I start getting my hands wrapped. Then I am sitting there going man why do I even fight this sucks! haha of course during the fight its the best feeling in the world and after when you get your hand raised.
