*Santiago Esparza / The Detroit News*

Highland Park -- A 37-year-old man was arraigned today in 30th District Court after being accused of shooting his teenage son execution-style while the boy pleaded for his life.

Jamar Pinkney Sr. faces one count of first-degree murder, three counts of felonious assault and one count of felony firearm.

Judge Bridgette Officer today in court ordered Pinkney Sr. to be held without bond as he awaits a preliminary exam on Dec. 1.

The courtroom was packed with emotional family members, including one who broke down and was escorted out of the room.

Police allege Pinkney marched his naked son, Jamar Jr., 15, out of a home at gunpoint near Rosa Parks and North Tuesday, and forced him into an adjacent grassy field. Investigators say the father made his son kneel before shooting him in the back of the head. Relatives said Jamar Jr. was pleading for his life as he was shot.

Highland Park police officials said the shooting occurred after an argument between the suspect and his son.

Relatives said Jamar Jr. recently admitted that he'd had inappropriate physical contact with a 3-year-old several months ago.

Jamar's aunt, Yolanda Cherry, said a relative took the girl to a doctor to be examined on Sunday, and that there were no indications of sexual abuse.

"There is nothing normal about killing your child," Cherry said. "I don't know why he shot him. He was a good boy. This is so sad."

One of Pinkney's attorneys, Corbett Edge O'Meara, said his client's state of mind will have to be considered as the case proceeds.

"That is certainly something a prosecutor and judge and jury will have to take into account," he said. "It obviously is a tragedy for the whole family. The entire situation is a tragedy for all involved."

If convicted, Jamar Pinkney Sr. will spend the rest of his life in prison.

"No individual has the right to exact the death penalty on another, no matter how reprehensible the behavior," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. "That is why we have laws."

The elder Pinkney stood silent in court as a not guilty plea was entered for him by the judge. He wore street clothes but was shackled.

Cherry said her nephew played football for several teams in leagues across the city and Detroit.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 24 at Second Ebeneezer Church, 14601 Dequidre in Detroit. A fund has been set up at the Charter One branch in Highland Park where people can donate money to help with funeral costs, Cherry said.

---Quote---
At least *753,399 people have been killed* in Afghanistan and Iraq since the U.S. and coalition attacks, based on lowest credible estimates.

Most recent update: September 11, 2009. This page is updated about once monthly.

*About 251 times as many people have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq than in the ghastly attacks of September 11, 2001*. More than 108 times as many people have been killed in these wars and occupations than in all terrorist attacks in the world from 1993-2004. The 2004 report showed terrorism at an all-time high, and after numerous experts suggested that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were fueling the increase, subsequent reports have remained classified.

Man who held knife at side guilty of threatening liquor cops | SeacoastOnline.com (http://www.seacoastonline.com/articles/20091112-NEWS-911129979)
By Elizabeth Dinan

A Kensington man was found guilty of criminal threatening for holding an open pocket knife at his side while asking two people who were walking behind him at midnight, "Why are you following me?"

The pair walking behind Dustin Almon, 28, of 27 Wild Rose Lane, were state Liquor Enforcement cops, both in plain clothes without any indicators that they were members of law enforcement, according to testimony during a Thursday Portsmouth District Court trial. Both were also carrying concealed handguns and Tasers, they testified.

One of them, Officer Anthony Cattabriga, said he was walking behind Almon on Chapel Street on Nov. 8, 2008, when Almon turned around three times to look at him and a new officer he was training. It was dark and Almon was twenty feet away when he displayed a knife with a two-inch blade the third time he turned around, said Cattabriga.

"He pointed it down by his side," the liquor officer testified, while demonstrating with Almon's seized pocket knife.

When he responded by yelling "police," Almon folded the knife, clipped it to his belt and complied with all subsequent police orders, Cattabriga testified.

Almon was initially arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, but the charge was later upgraded to criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

"I feared for my safety," Cattabriga said from a District Court witness stand.

Cattabriga's trainee, whose name was not entered into the trial record, corroborated her partner's testimony and said the entire event lasted two to three minutes.

Almon's attorney, Patrick Devine, described his client's actions as self defense.

"A crime was not committed," he told the court. "He was protecting himself against unknown people following him."

Judge Sawako Gardner examined the knife before finding Almon guilty of the class A misdemeanor.

"It doesn't matter who was behind you," the judge said, while explaining that Almon was guilty of the charge for placing another person in fear of bodily injury.

Noting no previous criminal record, the judge sentenced Almon to 30 days in the Rockingham County House of Corrections, with all of it suspended pending a year of good behavior. He was also fined $500 with half suspended pending the same good behavior.

Devine notified the court that he intends to appeal the decision to a higher court.

I always thought the conspiracy theorists were just being ignorant and paranoid and didn't understand that the plane crashed at close to 600 mph and the sheer energy from the forces involved crashing at that speed and the explosion from the large amount of fuel on board caused most of the plane to literally obliterate and the rest of the plane that survived was reduced to small pieces.

This is where things get confusing. *The FBI said they recovered 95% of Flight 93 (http://www.post-gazette.com/headlines/20010925scene0925p2.asp)*. That contradicts my explanation for the lack of debris. I figured the FBI was misquoted or something because there is no way, no mater how small the remaining pieces of the plane were reduced to, that there is 95% of a Boeing 757 scattered around on this field.

U.S.D.C. Eastern District of Virginia (http://www.vaed.uscourts.gov/notablecases/moussaoui/exhibits/prosecution/P200057.html)

But here is where I really start to question the official story. It seems that the FBI wasn't misquoted, because they are not saying that 95% of Flight 93 was scattered around the field, *the official explanation is that most of Flight 93 had burrowed underground and the ground filled back in on itself*.

I'm sorry, but I just can't believe most of a 155 foot-long Boeing 757 is located under this crater and can't believe this crater was actually a hole that closed back in on itself. There would have been massive amounts of dirt scattered all over the field if Flight 93 burrowed into the ground if it was that soft to allow it to burrow under.

In the War Room there is obviously some informed people, but outside? Spend some time browsing the heavyweights and you'd think the world began and ended with the US.

I have know many Americans. You're mostly good people. Easy to get along with and not obnoxious like the French. But you're damn ignorant. You don't know shit about geography and the culture of Europe. You think Beijing is a third world dump. You think the Japanese are only good at copying technology. That Russians are evil.

And you talk to loud for comfort.

Why do people want to believe in a God? (philosophical question)

Whether or not you believe in a God, here is my philosophical question that is open to all:

*Why do you think people want to believe in a God?*

In my view, the reason why people want to believe in a higher being, a God, or Buddha, etc., is because they all hope that there is a better place for them after they die - a Heaven or Nirvana - that would give them an eternal life in ultimate bliss and happiness.

I believe that this desire for a Heaven or Nirvana came about because the current lives of the people in question are neither happy nor fulfilling, or in rare cases, the people are afraid that their current lives will be short-lived and they will lose everything and everyone that is dear to them. And they hope that by there being a Heaven or Nirvana, their lives will be continued there forever.

My second question is:

*If a creator existed but he does NOTHING for you - he doesn't give you a better life - would you still want a creator or God? And if yes, explain why?*

In my view, I see there is no point in wanting a creator or God to exist if he does nothing for you to give you a better, happier life.
