Just got this news translated out of Romania

Semmy had a training camp in GG Romania

Yesterday he was sparring and gave a mea geri to a 24 year old Roemenian fighter, this fighter died after the kick and it is huge news all over Roemenia.

Semmy is traveling today back to Holland to finish training there for the K-1 GP and trying to deal with this freaking accident just 2 weeks before the K-1 GP finals.

Condolences to the family and relatives of this fighter

I was recently watching some of Gago Drago's fights and I was wondering what your thoughts are on him. I like his style and agression and he is still pretty young, 24 I believe. Where do you think he stacks up in the ranks of K1 MAX and do you think will ever come close to winning MAX during his career?

Sorry for another "what if" thread but im just wondering what sort of impact do you guys think CC would have had in K1 if he had concentrated purely on it and never went to MMA.

Hi K1 people.

Just as the title suggests I need some well versed K1 aficionados to put into perspective Overeem's recent K1 accomplishments. Overeem is very hyped right now in the MMA world, I think mostly due to his recent move to HW, and his 'impressive' K1 run. In pure MMA he has a nice win streak going but to be honest the talent has been less than.. exciting. Buentello is the best win, and yes he was winning the CroCop fight but CC has been a shell of himself lately.

Anyway, I look at his K1 fights on wiki (I'm am not knowledgeable in K1 hence this post) seeing that he beat Badr Hari, lost to Remy and then beat Aerts, and even with my little K1 knowledge I've heard these names mentioned many times. What I'd like to know is if someone can give me sort of an mma analogy as to what kind of run this is as far as level of competition and performance exhibited if that makes sense..

is this run like someone fighting, fedor, anderson, gsp, or is it more like a gsp, koshcheck, alves etc. etc. I'm just trying to understand some of the hype.

Best Discipline For Self Defense?

I know this may not be the correct forum, but I wasn't sure where to post!

If you had virtually no training experience and were looking to prepare for a stint in prison, which art would you study?

I'm leaning more towards the "hand-to-hand combat systems", or "reality based systems" (i.e., Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do, etc) as opposed to the "sport arts" (i.e., Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, etc.). Any suggestions?

On watchin the end again the ref should of called the match as soon as Spong went down, whenever a fighter tries to get up( eg lifting their head, while body remains motionless) but their body doesn't respond the fight should be called.

Just wondering which guy you feel has the better kicks and why?

Also how do you think Petrosyian would stack up against Yodsanklai under K-1 rules and under muay thai rules? I tend to only see K-1 fights so if Yod vs Petrosyian has already happened im sorry.

Also, I would love to know who has beaten Petrosyian and how? Im really impressed with the guy.

I am just curious...it almost seems like an American version of K-1. Why is it that K-1 can't get sanctioned, and the WCL can anyway?

I like their open ring. For the fans watching, that ring is definitely the best possible ring, and it also removes the need to complicated fence/rope rules for grabbing, obstructions, etc. I think the WCL has potential.
