This is gonna be an amazing fight and the debut of Minotauro's twin brother. Who imo is faster and better than his larger brother

yet there is not one promotion video on UFC.COM not even an interview.

Every other Pride and former Affliction fighter got some hype when making their debut. I think diet nog deserves it.

Potential Interim Title Fight Shane Vs Cain...In AUSTRALIA!?!

Scheduling problems could halt Shane Carwin vs. Cain Vealsquez interim title fight | MMAjunkie.com (http://mmajunkie.com/news/16934/scheduling-problems-could-halt-shane-carwin-vs-cain-vealsquez-interim-title-fight.mma)

A potential interim heavyweight title fight between Shane Carwin (11-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) and Cain Velasquez (7-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) could be in jeopardy due to a scheduling conflict.

With current champion Brock Lesnar's recent bacterial infection and hospitalization expected to keep him out of action until mid-2010, his fight with Carwin – first planned for UFC 106 and then scrapped again from January's UFC 108 card – is on hold.

Earlier this week, Carwin confirmed he and Velasquez "are in talks" for a potential interim title fight, but a source close to the fighter told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com)) the target date, UFC 110 in Australia, could be a problem.

While on the MMA forum The Underground earlier this week, Carwin posted a get-well message for Lesnar and argued that the champ shouldn't be stripped of the belt due to illness. He then confirmed he had been contacted about a potential fight with undefeated Velasquez that would earn the winner an interim belt.

"There's been talk of it, and we're working on it," Jason Genet, Carwin's manager, told MMAjunkie.com. "They're just trying to firm up some dates, but Shane and his wife are expecting a child in February, and we're trying to work around that."

Genet said it was a "high-risk pregnancy" and that the February due date for Carwin's wife, Lani, has presented some problems, but he wouldn't go into further detail.

However, sources close to the event told MMAjunkie.com that UFC officials were hoping to book Carwin vs. Velasquez for UFC 110, which takes place Feb. 21 in Sydney, Australia. However, Carwin said his wife's due date is Feb. 11, which is just about the time he would have to leave the country for Australia.

In a series of blog posts on his official Web site, Carwin discussed his bout with the H1N1 virus and an MCL strain but said he was willing to fight anyway. Family matters, though, are a different matter for the fighter.

Genet said he hopes the fight with Velasquez will take place in early 2010, and he'd be disappointed to see it go on without Lesnar if the scheduling becomes a problem.

"I just don't see how you could do interim heavyweight title and not have Shane be a part of it," he said. "He had earned a fight with the champion, so I think he's earned the right at an interim championship."

If the bout does take place, it'll feature two of the sport's most promising heavyweights. In fact, they were scheduled to fight once before – at UFC 104 last month. However, the UFC ultimately pulled Carwin from the card and matched him up with Lesnar at UFC 106. Velasquez instead fought UFC newcomer and IFL champ Ben Rothwell, whom he defeated via TKO for his seventh win in seven pro fights.

Carwin, who's 11-0 with 11 first-round stoppages, hasn't fought since March. Due to the series of fight cancellations, he could be looking at a full year between fights.

**** Thats a big big fight for the Aussies to land on top of Wand vs "that Japanese guy that a bunch of straight men seem to like a little too much". With the UFC devoid of solid mainevents for there 103, 105, 106 (i dont care how popular the guys are, they arent at the top of the division right now) 108 and without AS vs Belfort at 109, the UFC would then essentially export the HW interim title fight to Austrailia.

Call me a xenophobe, but I'd prefer to have a big fight like that in the states, given the fact that 4 outta 5 champs are out of action and yet North Americans are still supporting the UFC with sub par/ sub marquee match ups as much now than before.

I'm a big fan of Yushin Okami, and I know he's considered a large middleweight, but if he's like most Japanese fighters, he fights around his native weight. Does anyone else think he could do this? I think it would be very polarizing against some fighters, but many other large guys are fighting at 170, so it wouldn't be exactly shocking. Alves and Rumble, both big guys capable of cutting... even GSP was considered large for his weight for a while. With Yushin taking time to train in the US, the ideology to cut to fight may have become more attractive to him.

Should grabbing the fence be legal?

I was thinking the other day about why I like watching MMA fights in a Ring rather than a Cage. My buddy I was talking to about it came up with a great point. He said:

"The reason wrestling is so dominant in MMA, is because they can push people up against the cage and get the takedown."

I thought to myself that was absolutely spot on. In a ring, if you get taken down near the ropes, the ref will stop the fight, move them to the center, and restart in the same position. This keeps wrestlers from smashing people into a corner and GnP'ing them into submission (a la Lesnar) or a stoppage.

Solution? Maybe we allow people to grab on to the fence. Not "during" a takedown, but once someone has been put down on the mat, maybe allow them to grab the fence and pull themselves back up?

It could make it so wrestlers aren't so dominant in the UFC.....

Do you agree?
Do you disagree?
Do you even care?

Just curious.

Look, I don't love the guy either - his pre-fight hype w/ Hendo - but the fact is that he's had what, three decisions in his career? Otherwise he's finished everybody he's gotten in the ring with. Not finishing Leben isn't a knock either if you ask me, that'd be playing right into his hands and otherwise a SD to Rashad ain't too shabby either (and it was at LHW).

Furthermore, the immediate Kang hatred was pretty pathetic and classless if you ask me. This guy finished Ninja who was throwing with the best in the world at this point. But suddenly, since this same veteran clocked Bisping and couldn't finish him, Bisping is now an untalented douche just scraping by.

Come on, he took some mean shots and came through with a finish and that's all that matters. 12 TKO's and 4 subs is pretty solid if you ask me and the numbers speak for themselves.

He may not be a serious title contender but the Brit's got some chops, show some respeck.

Image: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/6894/noginbackground.jpg

I think it's lil Nog judging from his face and hair. I think it's actually smart to have UFC fighters show up to the WEC events because it gives them more prestige even if it's just a little more.

Since they occur the same week and are in the same city it was easy to do, but they should do it more often. And if they show the fighters in the crowd I think it will help add credibility to the WEC. I'm guessing some casual fans of MMA don't know that Zuffa own both and I'm also guessing that some people think the WEC is a watered down version which really isn't the case.

It's good PR, give a fighter a vacation and have him attend the event and show him on TV or interview him if he's a champion. I think Zuffa are treating the WEC like a red headed step child but it doesn't make any sense because it's got all the potential to join up with the ufc at the right time.

I'm guessing they'll probably bring in the WEC Ring Announcer Joe martinez whose voice I feel is much better suited for the job.

I wait for the day I can hear this in the Octagon with Fedor on one side and Brock on the other.

Why was the ufc 106 countdown so short?

Why was the ufc 106 countdown so short? To be honest, I missed it on spike, and watched in on ufc.com. Is the version that was shown on tv longer? It was about 20 mins. on the ufc site, for those who don't know.

Does it have to do with them maybe having another half of a show done or started on brock/carwin, and then it fell through as we all know?

It would have been good to see something on cane/lil nog or kos/rumble. Maybe just not enough time to pull something together, or maybe they didn't think it would get enough interest? Would of been cool to see lil nog training for his first ufc bout.

Anyone notice Mir adding serious mass to his frame?

Watching him on WEC, even with his shirt on you can see that the guy has been hitting the weights hard. I think gettting manhandled the way he did against Brock has made him want to get bigger and stronger.

Am I the only one who has noticed this? And does anyone have any info on whether Mir has publicly stated that he has been trying to add mass to his frame? And does anyone have any recent pics of him in training?

Im sure Mir will be well over 250 for his fight with Kongo. I just dont see Kongo being able to much to stop Mir from making him tap.
