Finally getting back in the gym after several years off and I am LOVING it.

The problem is, my left elbow pain is getting back in me, and I do not love it.

I did some research and essentially the recommended course of action unless your arm is falling off is RICE for treatment and recovery, and a good compression sleeve for when you're lifting.

Any suggestions on good compression sleeves? Please note I did search this and the equipment forum but did not find any solid recommendations. Some notes about me:
-I am not Allen Iverson nor Dwight Howard, I would rather not wear a full sleeve unless it's a really good idea.
-I prefer powerlifting. While I'm not some big huge bare hand bear killing mofo like a lot of you, this is my preferred methodology (I just want to be strong as I can)
-I do not care about looks, but I would like it to not be pink and/or douchey. I just want it to be built for weightlifters.

Google lead me to this:
APT Pro Gear - Elbow Sleeve Elbow Wrap Elbow Brace ADJUSTABLE (http://www.prowriststraps.com/inc/sdetail/28053)

Any experience with this or any other recommendations? I like that it's adjustable, so I can make it nice and tight.

Thanks in advance folks. Really appreciate all the good things you all are doing here.

Review of Chael Sonnen's New Book: The Voice of Reason

Don't let the over Zealous blurbs on the back and Sonnen's self promotions fool you, the majority of content contained within this book is written by the Chael you see on Rogan's podcast, the genuine Chael.

The book, although short, covers almost everything you can imagine a Politician/Fighter could write about, from Chael's disdain of Focus Mitts to a chapter dedicated to Richard Nixon.

It can get a little preachy sometimes, especially in the chapters regarding politics(expressing his disapproval of liberals and libertarians) and Chael's long winded rants, often verbose, are abundant and lead to reading a couple of lines and then thinking "Wait what the fuck did I just read?" causing re-reading of sentences.

But where this book really shines is in the chapters dedicated to fighting, his upbringing and the sparse content of his personal life.

The book is 220 pages long, it cost me 25 bucks but I decided to support Mr Sonnen in his literary endeavors and not return the book like a sleezebag and claim that the person I got it for already have it.

If you liked Forrest Griffin's books (particularly the first one) then you'll like this, similar style of writing and presentation.

Overall, I'd give it a 7.5/10, it would be higher if it was a tad longer.

Now, here are some of my favourite quotes/exerpts from the book that I'd like to share with my fellow Sherdoggers. Possible spoilers, don't say I didn't warn you.

"I can't turn in a post fight urine sample that smells like Ziggy Marley's guitar case" -On his pot smoking hotel neighbours -

"If I can't knockout a ninety-year old narcoleptic with my Sunday-best sucker-punch, why am I going to be warming up by punching mitts?" - On focus mitts

"So right now, standing in the Octagon set up in this arena in Oakland, I'm pretty much out of options. I'm out of real estate. I'm out of politics. I've got... fighting, and if that doesn't work out, well, then I've got ... fighting.
And I just happen to be fighting the best fighter in the world.
I'm ready. I've trained hard. I'm not going to leave anything in the tank; I'm going to pour it all out on that weirdo Anderson Silva. All the pain, all the rage, all the disappointment, all the helpless, blind fury. All the regret. I am going to channel all of it into the performance of my life.
And I do." - On fighting Anderson Silva (obviously)

"I believed in Santa Clause until I was twelve"- On Santa Clause( He's still real to me, damn it!)

"My father meant the world to me. He was strict and as tough as nails, but he taught me about what really matters in life. I remember the day my mother told me he had cancer and wasn't going to make it. He didn't want anyone to know, so when I was around him, I had to pretend that everything was all right. You can imagine how difficult this was. Finally, he decided to tell me on his own, but after talking it out, he immediately told me to get the heck out of the house. I ran outside, climbed into his brand-new truck, put my head on the steering wheel, and began to cry."

in the dojo how come those that compete are the humble ones while those who never compete tend to be arrogant? i always find that those who never compete usually brag about how good they are and who they make tap in the dojo and i never hear a competitor brag about this kind of stuff.

just wondering if this is unique to my experience or do you notice the same in your dojo?

Is there any reason why i shouldn't believe that Cane will dominate the standup and be able to stop any damaging ground game Okami has to dish?

EDIT: who do you have winning and why?

U.S. Army soldier brutally beaten in South Tampa (http://www.wtsp.com/news/topstories/article/255240/250/VIDEO-US-Army-soldier-brutally-beaten-in-South-Tampa)

---Quote---
Update: $10,000 reward offered after soldier beating

Tampa, Florida -- Police want your help finding four men who teamed up to beat a young U.S. Army soldier in a South Tampa street.

A group of three young men is seen walking ahead of the soldier. Police say one of the men in the group doubled back and asked to soldier to borrow a dollar. When the soldier reached for his wallet, the first punch flew.

The first, tremendous sucker punch laid the victim onto the ground. The other two men joined in, punching and kicking the soldier.
.
The victim was not able to tell police much more: they're all in their late teens to early 20's. Two were black men with an average build, police said. One attacker was possibly Hispanic, also with an average build. The fourth man was also black, but with a heavier build.

Police are hoping someone knows about this brutal beating and will call Tampa Police at 813-354-6600 to help them find the attackers.
---End Quote---
He was about to give the guy a dollar when he sucker punched him...and then a fourth guy comes running up just to stomp on him. Hopefully someone on the net can help find these ruffians. Note I cut most of the article because I am on a dub so read the link for details
